MarWin Farm

 

We are a very small, family-run farm in New Hartford, Connecticut.  We specialize in raising primarily Heritage Breed chickens, ducks, geese, guinea fowl, turkeys, rabbit and pork, as well as select heirloom veggies, eggs, and cut flowers.

 

Everything we do on our small farm we do BTO (Better Than Organic)!We, of course, meet the USDA Certified Organic standards, using no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides.  But much more importantly, we strive to purchase locally and farm sustainably.  Both of which are absent from the USDA Certification.

The Breeds We Raise
 
Chicken:  Barred Rock, Dark Cornish, Poulet Rouge, Light Brahma
 
Duck:  Pekin, Saxony, Silver Appleyards
 
Geese:  Embden
 
Turkey:  Blue Slate, Giant White
 
Pork:  Guinea Hog
 
Most of the breeds we raise are listed on The American Livestock Breed Conservancy (www.albc-usa.org),
 
as well as on Slow Food's Ark of Taste (www.slowfoodusa.org/ark/ark_list.html)

Heirloom Tomatoes:  Black Krim, Brandywine, Fox Cherry, Amish Paste, Yellow Pear Cherry, Green Zebra
  
Other Heirlooms:  Calabrese Broccoli, Chioggia Beets, Cocozelle Zucchini, Yellow Crookneck Squash, Nardello Sweet Peppers, Corno di Toro Italian Peppers, Aci Sivri Chile Peppers,  Early Russian & Armenian Cucumbers, Jacob's Cattle Beans, Simpson & NY Head lettuce.
 
Other Produce: Jalapeno peppers, Optima Lettuce, red and green cabbage, Scotland Leeks, Walla Walla onions.
 
Cut Flowers:  We grow Grandpa's Zinnias!  Lots of them, in 7 different colors.  We bring the zinnias to the market so that you can create your own bouquet!
